Let's Celebrate! Month of the Military Child Events

As we gear up to celebrate the Month of the Military Child, we're excited to share with you all the fun and exciting events happening in and around Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in April. This month is all about recognizing and honoring the strength and resilience of the children in our military families, and we're thrilled to be able to offer a variety of events that are sure to put a smile on every child's face.

Dated Events

Easter Egg Hunt

4:00pm - 5:30pm on April 4, at the Library.
Bring your family and easter baskets to the Library to take pictures with the Easter Bunny and participate in the Easter egg hunt!

Jungle Jam

10:00am - 2:00pm on April 8, at Palms Park.
This event at Palms Park (next to The Bob Hope Theater and across from Navy Federal) will include an animal experience, booths from vendors, food trucks, and more.
 

F.I.N.D.E.R.S. 4 Kids

4:30pm - 6:00pm on April 12, in the Team Building Training Center. (Behind Bldg. 2273 across from the Marine Mart on Elrod Avenue)

F.I.N.D.E.R.S. 4 Teens

4:00pm - 5:30pm on April 19, at the Child Youth Program.
Teens must be enrolled at CYP to attend this event.

Dog Tales Storytime

4:30pm - 5:30pm on April 20, at the Children's Library.
Go to the Children's Library for an extra special story time about animal friends.

Kids Night Out

5:00pm - 7:30pm on April 21, at Team Building Training Center.

L.I.N.K.S. Game Night - Disney Trivia

6:00pm - 8:00pm on April 27, at the Team Building Training Center. (Behind Bldg. 2273 across from the Marine Mart on Elrod Avenue)

Mini Ball

5:00pm - 7:00pm on April 28, at the Child Youth Program.
An open event at the Child Youth Program building with dancing and activities. Not mandatory to wear Military uniform. For more information, contact Marine Corps Family Team Building by email at smbmiramarmcas.mcstf@usmc.mil or call 858-307-4918.

FAP Family Scavenger Hunt and Resource Fair

10:00am - noon on April 29 at Mills Park.
Compete in a scavenger hunt around the base all month to win prizes! Winners and prizes will be announced at the Resource Fair. MCFTB Miramar Events | Eventbrite

Signs at Play

10:00am - 11:00am every Tuesday at the Children's Library (For toddlers)
Enhance communication between you and your toddler with simple ASL signs.

Teen Tuesday

5:00pm - 6:00pm First and Third Tuesdays (April 4 and 18) at the Library Makerspace
Promoting innovative ways for teens to learn new skills, fuel their passions, and develop lasting connections.

Play Morning

11:00am - Noon every Thursday at the Children's Library (For 0-18 month-olds)
Learn through sensory exploration. Promotes language development, cognitive growth, social interaction, and problem-solving skills.

Story Time

10:00am-11:00am every Friday at the Children's Library (Ages 0-7)
Early Literacy skills for young children (ages 0-7). Stories, songs, rhymes, crafts and more.

Bob Hope Theater

Free movie showing every Sunday at noon.
A free movie showing each weekend in April including a free child-sized popcorn for ages 17 and below.

 

Month of the Military Child Booklet

Be sure to pick up a Month of the Military Child booklet from Marine Corps Community Services. It's packed with information on summer activities, resources for families and parents, and discounts or coupons for the MCX. There are some amazing summer activities planned, including babysitting courses, Teen Summit, Mini Marine, and the Summer Reading Program.
